“Hi Hi Histories Workshop” – The Long Night of Museums 2023 in Caricature Musuem in Warsaw. The World Collage Day.

May 13, 2023, 19:00-21:00 I will conduct an open collage workshop.

Join us during the Night of Museums for an open collage workshop. We will cut out more than one number! We will conjure up new worlds. We will use archival photos of the Museum of Caricature and Lengrenowka and illustrations from botanical and zoological albums. Using paper and scissors, we will tell brand new personal stories. And even hihihi stories! It will be colorful! We can lay down our lives (or at least our fingers) for that!

During the workshop we will try out different cutting techniques and learn about the works of selected artists. Everyone will have a chance to dive into their world. Collages will be created, for example, based on a single photo. Since everyone has different sensibilities and ideas, the works will surprise you with their diversity. Collage promotes concentration and awakens imagination. It has a therapeutic significance. The collage workshop aims to show participants the power of collage and how much it can surprisingly say about ourselves and the world around us. Participants
will immerse themselves in the Caricature Museum’s collection of archival photographs and create a new world from the here and now. Collage is a journey. It is a process that surprises the creator themselves. Where will it take us?

World Collage Day is an annual international celebration of collage, which is always held on the second Saturday of May. It was created on the initiative of Kolaj Magazine in 2018. During this day, art venues around the world (museums, galleries, among others) join together in celebrating collage, which aims to create new forms and new ways of thinking byby combining different tools and materials. Ric Kasini Kadour, editor of Kolaj magazine, writes: “We created World Collage Day because we wanted to honor the community of collage artists and remind the world what a spirit of collaboration, mutual support and creativity can look like.” By organizing a collage workshop that very evening, during the “Night of Museums,” the Museum of Caricature joins in to celebrate World Collage Day.
