The book was written by Magdalena Sobolska. It is the only publication of its kind in the Polish art world. It is the result of dozens of interviews, several trips, hundreds of works viewed and photographs taken. All the artists featured live and work ‘here and now’, and each of them uses this artistic technique in a slightly different way and has their own style. It is a collage of many voices, ready to be heard.

From the introduction:
“The book (Re)constructions is an Art Manifesto. It expresses my fascination with collage – its possibilities and the wide variety of expression it can embrace. Throughout the process of writing these essays, I was driven by a determination to present contemporary collage – happening in Poland ‚here and now’ – as broadly as possible. I wanted to showcase the wide range of technical and narrative possibilities this medium offers. In these texts, I also challenge current perceptions of collage. It is often dismissed as a trivial technique, relegated to a secondary status, and associated with shallow subject matter. Consequently, collage holds only a marginal presence within art institutions.”
