In the special issue of Kolaj magazine published on the occasion of World Collage Day, you will read an article entitled ‘ The Making Of An Icon’, in which Ric Kasini, chief editor, describes the story of the creation of Baba with the fish, which, before she became a linocut, was…. a collage.
The article is accompanied by a “Cut-out page” prepared by me, with a heart in the centre and flowers all around it.
Ric Kasini writes:
“Fish often make an appearance in Janik’s collage. The man in the collage “On my head”, seems shocked that beatles and bugs, a head of cabbage, birds, frogs, flowers, and, of course, a fish are spouting from his hat as it is a portal to a universe of flora and fauna. We are invited to be equally playful with Janik’s Cut-Out Page where a heart beats in the middle of a field of loose flowers. Perhaps a fish will spout from the heart”.
